Dick and Andrea, Just started reading your posts. Oh my gosh what a disaster-ridden adventure. Dick, when you do this again with me let's start farther south!! I hope Andrea's injuries are healing well. You are a brave soul to keep on pedaling in the face of such adversity.
I look forward to more discussions of sunny days, tailwinds and gentle sloping downhills (if the earth is rotating toward the east, its momentum shoudl carry you with little effort!!
Hello Riders! Not sure if you guys know that I live in Portland! My mom told me about your ride and lo and behold, I saw you today! I have been doing archaeological survey for all the wind farms along the Columbia River for a few years. I was just leaving a wind farm, about 20 miles east of Goldendale, WA and heading back towards Portland on SR-14 when I see three riders, the one in front with a Iowa State Cyclones Jersey! I knew right away it was you guys but I didn't want to honk and scare anybody! So as you were riding by the wind farms, one of those trucks passing you by was me and my crew! Since I was on the clock I couldn't go back and flag you down!
I hope you have an absolutely wonderful trip despite difficult beginnings. I think no one told you the rain doesn't stop here until July! However, the farther east you travel the better the weather will get. You have already left the worst weather behind you as you enter the high desert that actually encompasses most of Washington and Oregon. Have a wonderful trip!
